Canolfan Pentre Ifan is the most recent residential centre to be established by the Urdd. Opened in 1992 as an education centre the building itself is a 600-year-old Tudor gatehouse surrounded by natural woodland and farmland, ensuring a peaceful and homely atmosphere.
Pentre Ifan is located some 2 miles from Newport, between Fishguard and Cardigan in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The area is typically rural and is noted for its magnificent views, historical remains and unique and abundant wildlife.
Within easy reach of the centre are Pentre Ifan burial chamber, Castell Henllys iron age hillfort, the coastal footpath, Ty Canol reserve, the Preseli hills and the Gwaun valley. Horses and mountain bikes are also available for hire in the area.
The centre sleeps 18 people in 3 rooms (sleeping 10, 6 and 2). Home cooked meals are prepared at the farmhouse on site. The hall sits up to 60 people and is ideal for meetings and functions.
Although primarily an education centre, Pentre Ifan is also popular for courses and conferences as well as for youth groups and family holidays. Whatever your needs, if you are looking for somewhere with a unique atmosphere for a course or holiday it’s worth contacting the centre at Pentre Ifan.
