Squash

“Squash and Racketball Wales are delighted to be a part of Gemau Cymru again after our debut last year.  The games will provide a platform  to showcase Squash in Wales, and give young people an experience of a major Games on a smaller scale.’ We are excited to be working in partership with the Urdd on the Games”.

I began playing squash at 8 years old at the local leisure centre with my father.  He has helped me progress and get into the Welsh squad and I have been fortunate to represent South Wales in the English Inter-Counties competitions and have twice represented Wales in the Five Nations Squash Tournament in Wales (u13) and recently in France as part of the under 15 team.  I am currently doing my level 1 coaching and hope to be able to pass on my enjoyment of squash to others.

There are many reasons I love squash but the Squash Wales motto of “Fun to Fulfilment” sums up perfectly why I love the sport.  Squash was first included in last year’s Gemau Cymru and I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase squash and to help raise the profile of squash in its bid to make the Olympic Games in 2020.
