MAGNOX BOOST FOR URDD NATIONAL EISTEDDFOD, 2012

Today (Monday, 26 March) Urdd Gobaith Cymru is unveiling details of a major new sponsor of the Urdd National Eisteddfod, Eryri (Snowdonia) 2012. Magnox Ltd, the management and operations contractor for Trawsfynydd and Wylfa Nuclear sites has pledged its support to the Urdd Eisteddfod which will be held in Glynllifon near Caernarfon between 4 and 9 June.

For the first time ever, a regional Urdd Eisteddfod will be held outside Wales on Saturday (March 17 2012). The Eisteddfod, for those living or studying outside of Wales and wishing to compete will be held in Jewin Chapel, Barbican, London with over 200 competitors expected to take part in 35 competitions.

With 100 days to go until the Urdd National Eisteddfod, Eryri (Snowdonia) in Glynllifon near Caernarfon, thousands of children the length and breadth of Wales will begin the Eisteddfod journey today (Saturday, 25 February).

This week (7 – 11 November),will see a tour of the popular musical show, Rimbojam performed at nine centres throughout Eryri (Snowdonia) as children in the area prepare to welcome the Urdd National Eisteddfod to the area in June 2012.

With the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Eryri fast approaching, it’s not just the area’s children and young people who are set to benefit from the festival’s visit next June. On Wednesday, 2nd of November at 8am over 50 representatives from local companies and oragnisations will come together at Bangor University’s Management Centre to learn more about the Eisteddfod and the economic boost the festival can bring to an area.

URDD GOBAITH CYMRU BRYN TERFEL SCHOLARSHIP WINNER 2011

This evening, (September 25), Glain Dafydd from Bangor, North Wales won the Urdd Gobaith Cymru Bryn Terfel Scholarship 2011 in a concert at Dragon Studios, Pencoed near Bridgend.  The Scholarship, worth £4,000 was presented to Glain at the televised concert, which hails the finale of this year’s Scholarship and its related activity.

EVENT: Aelwyd y Waun Ddyfal Choir will be put through their paces by one of the UK’s top Artistic Directors, Karen Gillingham (from Channel 4’s Operatunity), Choreographer Natasha Khamjani and Musical Director, Hannah Conway before their performance at London’s O2 Arena to launch WorldSkills London 2011.

On Sunday, 25th September eight winners of some of the headlining competitions at Swansea’s Urdd National Eisteddfod will be competing for the prestigious Urdd Gobaith Cymru Bryn Terfel scholarship at the Dragon Studios, Pencoed near Bridgend. The Scholarship, worth £4,000 is one of Wales’ leading cultural awars.
