Location of the maes has been decided:

It has been announced that Rhiwlas near Bala will be home to the Eisteddfod when it visits Meirionnydd in 2014.

During the consultation process, started back in early 2012, the Meirionnydd residents have offered potential locations and subsequently visited nine sites throughout the county.

After initial visits, a shortlist of three sites was declared - in Tywyn, Harlech and Bala.

The views of external stakeholders and organizations, and as a result the Urdd's Central Technical Committee decided that Bala  was the most suitable location.

E'obvious strenghts'

According Aled Sion, Director of the Eisteddfod:

"Although the three sites shortlisted had strengths and merits, it was obvious that Bala was the strongest candidate. Specifically, there are plenty of good land, suitable site and is accessible from all directions.

"The site has also been home to two successful National Eisteddfod, which showed that the transport and parking systems have worked very well. There are also plenty of flat land at the site to locate the  Caravan and Car Park and it's also close to the town".

"I would like to thank the local committees and outside agencies for their input into the consultation process and look forward to a successful Eisteddfod in Meirionnydd in 2014."

Hedd Pugh, Chairman of the Executive Committee added:

"We are very appreciative that so many different areas in Meirionnydd are eager to welcome the Eisteddfod and we look forward to working with people from all over the county to ensure a memorable Eisteddfod in 2014.
