Eisteddfod Cardiff Bay 2009


In 2009 the Urdd Eisteddfod will be held at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay, with all competitions taking place on the main Donald Gordon Theatre stage.

The area around the Wales Millennium Centre will be transformed into an exciting ‘maes’ of a different kind, full of buzzing children and young people from around Wales.

There will be plenty of attractions for the whole family – various stalls selling crafts from Wales, and impressive exhibitions, including Art, Design and Technology.

With over 100,000 visitors, 15,000 competitors, and the whole event being broadcast live on S4C and BBC Radio Cymru, it promises to be a memorable event.

Evening Entertainment at the Urdd Eisteddfod
Sunday 24 May – Concert with Bryn Terfel and previous winners of the Bryn Terfel Scholarship
Monday 25 May – Action Song competition
Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 May – Production of “FFAWD” by the Urdd Gobaith Cymru Youth Theatre Company
Thursday 28 May – Night of competitions
Friday 29 May – Orchestra Competition
Saturday 30 May – Competitions reach their pinnacle

Welcome to the National Urdd Eisteddfod, Cardiff Bay


Between 25 – 30 May 2009, Cardiff Bay will be transformed to host Eisteddfod yr Urdd, Wales’ cultural youth festival. Up to 100,000 visitors and 15,000 competitors will be part of this spectacular event which also has a huge TV audience. With the best of Wales’ youngsters participating in song, recitation, drama, dance, composing, poetry, arts and crafts competitions, and much, much more, Cardiff Bay will be a hive of activity throughout this half term week.
Cardiff Bay is ready and waiting to welcome visitors from all over the world to this year’s Eisteddfod.

The park and ride car parks will open between
