The John and Ceridwen Hughes Award is presented to an individual or individuals who have made a great contribution to the youth of Wales, in a ceremony held during the National Urdd Eisteddfod week every year.
The award is given every year by Gerallt and Dewi Hughes in honour of their late parents who made a valuable contribution to youth work in Wales. The couple contributed significantly to children and young people's activities through the Urdd, MENCAP and other youth organisations.
Nominees must be conducting their youth work through the medium of Welsh or must be working with Welsh learners. The work should be face to face youth work with young people over 11 years old and outside the formal education system.
The Urdd are looking for nominations for the 2013 Award. Nominations of individuals who are currently working with young people, or who have contributed to youth work in the past will be accepted.
The nominee may be involved in any aspect of youth work i.e. cultural, physical, humanitarian, socially, with Welsh learners, with the disabled.
